Here is a song I love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d63COahIpVM .
The Gayatri mantra, sang by Deva Premal !
This song is very powerfull.
As all mantras it uses the science of sound vibration.
Our world is made up of energy. Energy vibrates. Some energy, like an inanimate object, vibrates slower, or at a lower frequency. Some energy, like a thought, vibrates at a rate we cannot see. Experiencing energy, that vibrates at a higher frequency brings us closer to merging with the highest vibration of all, which is sometimes called God.
Every thought or feeling we have is on a vibratory frequency. By using mantras we direct the mind into a high vibratory frequency. Mantra yoga is a technique of yoking the individual consciousness with the whole. This is accomplished by merging the sound of the individual consciousness through the rhythmic power of the mantra.
The total effect of a mantra depends on the reflex points on the tongue and in the mouth. On the roof of the mouth there are 84 meridian, or pressure, points. Every time you speak, you stimulate them on the tong. When you press the right “codes” is sends messages to the brain to unlock the higher centers.. Mantras contain the ancient technology to send these codes to the brain.

So the pronunciation is very important in mantras, and each mantras has different vibrations and effects on you body.
As for Gayatri mantra it always cheers me up. But it does a lot more than that as well 🙂
Om bhur bhuvaha svaha
Tat savitur varenyam
